Bayawan Children’s Home Our second home was started in 1995 in the city of Bayawan, Philippines, also on the island of Negros. The Bayawan home is called "the farm." Located in a remote area, Bayawan is not only home for our 23 children, but also for an assortment of chickens, turkeys, pigs, and goats. We plant and harvest coconuts, bananas, and a variety of other foods right on the land surrounding the home. These foods are a staple part of the children's diet.
The impact this home is making reaches beyond the children and into the surrounding villages. A local organization which takes in mentally retarded individuals often turns to the New Life Children's Home in Bayawan for help. The community knows they can count on the orphanage to help care for people so they don't have to turn anyone away.
Eleazar and Sheila are the house parents in charge of the Bayawan Home. They have been in charge of this home for three years. The home and children have flourished under their capable management. They are assisted by two full-time staff.
Toward the end of 2003, the home was flooded for the second time during a typhoon. Drainage improvements are needed to prevent this situation from occurring again. See how you can get involved and help make these improvements a reality.
